Every time I go to Manila I always stay at The Slouch Hat it is the only cleanest restaurant Bar hotel in Ermita and the staff are always friendly and courteous the meals are very affordable and the rooms are value for money.

The meat pies are as close as you’ll get to the Oz kind. No Australian beers but. Food is a bit pricey for ordinary quality. Must be operating near bottom line as they seem kuripot (stingy) over minor details. Staff service variable.

this is a good hotel for the price. the staff are friendly and helpful. they keep the beer cold. safety deposit boxes are available in some rooms. good location close to many tourist and entertainment spots. only problem is their eftpos machine is unreliable, but this is not uncommon in the philippines and there are also many banks nearby.

I have been staying for a night in March 2010. During my absence in the evening from the room, some money has been taken from my safety deposit box. I realized it the next morning and had a discussion with the manager. He tried to blame the local girls, but unluckily for him I didn’t take anyone on my room. Trying to blame the customer for a serious security risk is never an option. From my EUR 680,- in total EUR 200,- have been missing. From my Peso 25.000 around 10.000 had been missing. You need the spare key or a copy to get access to the box in the room, so it is definetely an inside job. Avoid this place by all means, carrying valuables around Manila at night is no option either – you need to be able to trust the places you are staying in.

I stayed for a week in May – June 2010- and I had my camera and my brothers cameras stolen from our rooms.

We also spoke to the manager and he said he had an idea who did it but then he told us that he had spoken to the employee and that he had denied taking them so he told us that he believed that he had not stolen them.

They do supply some security boxes but we hadn’t even been to our rooms and hadn’t yet gotten the key to the security box after booking in – their staff took our bags to our rooms – NEVER again would I stay where they emply thieves.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.
